"Piece of plastic!" he screams.
"What would you like to do with it?" I asked him, curious about what he might answer.
Thinking for a few seconds, he says, "It is waste."
"Okay. Do you want to throw it in the dustbin?"
Pondering over the choice offered, with a slight hesitation, he replies, "It goes to landfill then."
"You're right. You're in TRUI right? How about throwing it in the dustbin dedicated to it?"
Leaving me inspired, slightly guilty, and in thoughts, he runs away to look for the segregated TRUI dustbins.
Being part of one of the missions at Sparkling Mindz dedicated to solving few of the major world problems in life, Team TRUI (Tinker, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Upcycle, Innovate) works on creating sustainable action items for countering climate change. Children across grades, from our preschoolers to 10th graders and above, constantly inspire themselves along with their mission mentors, walking the path of changemaking, working with the mission of their choice.
This preschooler's response, evoking a sense of responsibility, and awareness, got built overtime in his mission, and will continue to build in the coming years.
For now, did you know that waste can be segregated in more than just dry and waste? Where do you think the waste produced in your neighborhood go?K
