Mission Child Vulnerability
Creating Safe Spaces to Enable Empowered Individuals.
‘The true character of society is revealed in how it takes care of its children’.
- Nelson Mandela
The different levels of governments have made policies and laws to ensure safe spaces, but is that sufficient? If we take a peek at the awareness levels when it comes to children and their holistic safety, there is a lot more that can be done.
We do trust the adults to make the the space safe for the children but we seldom do enable children in creating safe spaces for themselves.
Hence we came up with Mission Child Vulnerability- For the children, By the children and Of the children.

The children who not only saw it as opportunity but also as their responsibility, embarked on this journey with us. They earned their places in the mission by showing their intent, learning new skills, doing research and understanding the problem at it's core, meeting people, constantly reflecting and learning empathy.

OUR JOURNEY
Milestone
2022- 23 Book of Life |
As we evolved through reflections and upskilling we set new milestones for us keeping the purpose of the mission in the center. This is what we arrived at.
How might we create safe spaces for all Empathy for Space- The space at school enables the child to engage with learning. The children learn to be empathetic to the space. Empathy for Children- The MCV children are our Empathy Scouts. They keep a look out for anybody in need of empathy and bring it to the notice of the facilitator who offers empathy. Lost and found- Children are learning to be mindful of their belongings. In this learning journey, they sometimes tend to leave things behind. MCV took the ownership of creating and implementing a process to ensure that the things go back to their owners. The things that are unclaimed are being donated to the NGOs that MCV collaborates with. Washroom Safety Checks- Washroom by the very nature can become a blind spot. In order to maintain washroom hygiene and safety, we have our washroom warriors who take observations and issues to resolve it. Safety for Animals- Safe spaces are for all includes animals too. MCV took steps to ensure safety for stray dogs. They raised funds to provide Glow in the Dark Collars for 200 stray dogs in and around the community. How might we contribute to the quality education? Sex Ed- The children had lot of questions related to sex ed. The children gave their questions and we held regular Sex Ed classes. Through this the children explored different aspects of this, are learning to say an Empathetic No and have also arrive at a love charter. Book of Life- Inspired by Human Library, MCV organized two Book of Life events. The first Book of Life theme was- Marginalized communities and the second Book of Life event theme was- Sports with Purpose. We invited people from different walks of life as books. With each human book the children and the community members interacted on a one on one basis. This enabled them to connect personally and be aware. Through this initiative MCV has been able to collect 32,000 Rupees which will go to other projects owned by the missions. |
