Parents' Guide to Sparkling Mindz Programs (FAQs)
a. How will this benefit my child?
You will see the child becoming more confident, self-motivated, more focused, showing a more positive attitude towards problems, a better communicator, a more creative thinker and a better problem solver. The program is structured such that over the duration of the course the child internalizes the necessary concepts to start reaping these benefits.
b. What kind of children come to your program? Is this program only for a child with a problem or a special needs child?
These skills are essential for everyone to learn in today’s world. The learning methodology is such that we baseline each child and look towards developing their strengths in small groups. The activities and the methodologies work together to develop the full potential of the child. The tools that we work are thoroughly researched and designed to work for all children, so no matter what the knowledge or ability level of the child, we have seen them being able to think and perform better.
c. My child is gifted. Can I enroll him/her?
This is the platform we provide for the child as they get gear up to take on the world. We provide mastery and practice on several dimensions of the child's growth - thinking, social and emtions. All of which can come together to enhance and enrich your child's gift even further!
d. How long will the impact of the program last?
The program teaches useful practical skills that children can use in their day to day lives. This is not a knowledge based program that they can forget. It is a game-based program. We have all played sufficient games as children and adults to know that we don't forget the games we play, only the stuff we learn by rote!
e. Will the regular system influence and change their thinking process when they go back to school?
The program is not designed to be in conflict with any form of learning anywhere but complementary. In fact, when they go back to school each week after the class it should be grounds for them to practice and enhance their skills. Once you complete the entire program, the child’s brain opens up to a deeper way of thinking that is aware, open, inspired and engaged at the same time. Such a mind is keenly aware and capable of understanding and working with systems with full regard to its consequences.
f. Does the program conflict with what my child learns in school?
Our focus is on developing Young Thinkers and Achievers which is NOT in conflict with any school system in the world that we know of!. Today, with heavy emphasis on continuous assessment and higher order thinking skills, a child who is able to think and achieve their potential, will succeed. Also, our past successes prove that children perform extremely well in schools as well as in social situations post this program.
g. Isn't there more time to learn all this later in life, shouldn't children be concentrating on studying and playing?
At a young age the child’s brain is very flexible and learns these skills faster. As an adult one has a lot of unlearning to do to match the skill. Also, when learnt early on these skills are available for the child to apply for a longer time and enrich the child’s life. A changed attitude at the right time can open up multiple growth options! An adult loses 95% of their creative thinking ability compared to a 5 year old. So, the earlier you learn these skills the better.
h. How is your program different from any other Personality development program/Abacus?
Sparkling Mindz has developed innovative, unique and proprietary tools, techniques, games and activities to develop the child’s brain to think and communicate better based on Multiple Intelligence and Cognitive Psychology frameworks.
i. Who delivers the program?
Our programs are delivered by facilitators who have previous experience of working with children in different roles and are fully trained by Sparkling Mindz to handle the thinking, social and emotional development of your child during the session.
j. Can you tell me what will happen each day/what happens in the class?
We can provide you an outline of the skills and tools covered in the program to understand what the child is doing. Day to day monitoring and status-updates are not possible.
k. How much of parent involvement is expected/will be there?
We send regular fun take homes that inform parents of activities they can do at home every week to develop the child's skills further. Annually a feedback is provided to keep track of the child’s progress through the program and several useful products that you can purchase to work with the child at home.
l. How do I know my child’s progress?
At the end of the program a feedback will be given to you about the child’s progress.
m. What can I do at home?
We give take homes to the children regularly that are interesting and relevant to the tools being taught in the class. Also, Sparkling Mindz has launched several useful products that you can purchase to work with the child at home.
n. Is 2 hours/week a session effective for learning these skills?
The focused 2hrs on a weekend is an effective time for us to work on the thinking & communication tools with the children. On an average, in school children get only about 2 hours per week on a particular subject, except it is widely spread out. At Sparkling Mindz, our sessions are activity-based and hands on and children and children have fun while they learn! They don’t realize when the time passes by.
o. Are the sessions individualized?
We believe that every child is unique. The batch has a max of 10-12 children and there are various kinds of activities that are done during the sessions. Each child’s progress is tracked separately to ensure that they are on track as per their strengths and areas of improvements. We also collect a parent form upfront and keep track of your inputs with respect to the child’s development.
p. What if we are unable to attend one/few classes?
The program is designed based on tools and throughout the level sufficient practice is provided for all the different tools. If you will be missing a session kindly inform us in advance and we shall let you know the course of action (if any is required).
q. I tried another program, that didn’t work. How can I be sure that that Sparkling Mindz program will work for my child?
We cannot vouch for other programs but our programs are based on NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Multiple Intelligence frameworks and each of the unique components combines together to create an effective, fun program that achieves positive results for the children and the parents!
