What are Changemaker Missions?
Learning and Life have been sitting away from each other, in separate spaces for too long!
As a result of this both suffer.
On the one hand, learning becomes too narrow and children are not able to see how learning is connected to life. Learning then, is just transactional or driven by fear.
What is equally concerning, if not more, is that the 'living' itself becomes narrow - Children, even after learning a lot, can't apply it to life. How often have we heard about stories where all the learning has not enabled a person to solve problems or live a fulfilling life?
This is the stark opposite of what we want and work towards, at Sparkling Mindz.
Therefore, while we make sure the learning is sufficiently deep and wide for children, we also have Changemaker Missions. Children apply their learning, in the here and now, to solve real-world problems in the different Missions. At the same time, the explorations undertaken as part of the Missions loop back inspiration and engagement to the learning outcomes.
Currently, children are working on 4 Missions, which deal with 4 Big real-world problems.
Climate Change (Mission TRUI)
Child Health (Mission SM Plates)
Child Vulnerability (Mission MCV)
Community, Stories & Practices (Mission CSP)
