A messy desk is a very proud accomplishment for me after I have done something that had engaged my artistic senses. Colors, paper cut-outs, stationery…anything that could disorganize a previously clean desk is so beautiful after having worked on it to produce something in my own little bubble. Sometimes the end product does not even matter because it is all about the journey; the colors that worked and the ones that didn’t, the topless glue sticks lying around, the dirty-colorful water that got put through all the possible combinations of colors from the palette, the list is endless. It is not just with me that I find this artistic mess beautiful though, it is even prettier when it is the result of the activities that were conducted with the kids. They go all out with every possible sense of excitement– the fights over glue and crayons, the sweet moments of sharing stickers, the gossip sessions on who knows a song better…their journey through exploring the realms of their own imagination is truly amazing! |
The more we watch them, the more we realize that behind all that creative-thinking mess, the kids work in their own little bubble and most of the time, they do not even care about what happens beyond their desks because right then, their world is all about that activity they are doing with their friends. At that moment, the only thing that matters behind that messy table is the learning that takes place and the joy they experience for having created something new, along with their sense of accomplishment. Doesn’t matter how the end products look, as long as the journey has been worthwhile, with a generous-gorgeous messy table in the end, that’s all that matters. Because this mess is always beautiful!
