Sparkling Mindz Thinking & Communication Skills Program
Sparkling Mindz is a 'thinking & communication skills' program conducted for the age groups 5-13 years. There are several modules covered under the thinking skills program and all the modules are necessary for the whole brain development of the child:
1. Creative Thinking - Creativity enables kids to come up with lots of ideas, think laterally, be resourceful in life, have a positive attitude and face challenges head on instead of giving up! It is not just about creative expression, it is also about problem solving and coming up with lateral solutions. Experiencing creative thinking at a young age enables the child to become confident and believe in a life of possibilities!!!
2. Critical Thinking - In this module children are initiated into the world of systematic approaches, planning, analyzing, understanding consequences and evaluating. Learning to think critically at a young age embeds these capabilities at deeper and more useful levels for the child
3. Communication Skills - In a world where instant connectivity is the norm children should learn how to get their ideas across and present effectively, engage a visitor/vendor in a conversation and share their brilliant experiences and thoughts with friends & family. In fact, they begin to realize that communication happens only when the other person gets it. That is exactly what this module will cover!
4. Interpersonal Skills - Learning to listen actively, understanding others, becoming assertive, working in teams, being aware of own emotions and developing an understanding of own strengths and weaknesses are all part of developing interpersonal skills! Many of these essential skills we learn later in life when there is a need for a lot of unlearning first
5. Decision Making - Children are making increasingly complex choices than ever before. On the one hand, it is important to think logically and on the other hand they need to generate good options to choose from. Learning decision making process at a young age makes it a useful and effective skill as they grow up!
6. Values Frameworks - All the decision making and thinking in the world cannot compensate for lack of understanding of values and how they affect your decisions. It is important to know one's own & one's families' values and apply them in day to day decision making process
Developing Thinking & Communication Skills is a long term commitment and should not be viewed from a short term perspective. Thinking & Communication Skills Program is a 9 month program for the 5-7 year olds and 18 month program for the 8-13 year olds. Post the program, there are lots of opportunities as part of workshops and follow up products that the children and parents can engage with Sparkling Mindz and that will keep the skills refreshed for the children, as they grow & succeed in their lives!
Classes are conducted for 2 hours/week. The first three modules - Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking and Communication Skills are for 5-7 year olds and all the 6 modules - Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Decision Making and Value Frameworks are for 8-13 year olds.
